How it works
From this page you can access parts of the new, inter-active edition of the Latin program Latin Via Ovid. For the program to operate sucessfully, you will need two special tools. The first is a plug-in or extension for the Web browser you are using to read this page now. When installed, this plug-in will allow your browser to run the active content of the Latin Via Ovid program. When you access one of the available components, the program will automatically detect if the necessary plug-in is installed. If it is not, the program will guide you through the process of downloading and installing it. However, if your computer is part of a networked system, you may find that you are blocked from getting the plug-in. This is to prevent a harmful possible breach of your network security. In this case, you will have to contact your network administrator to have the plugin installed. Your administrator can access the necessary information here:

In addition to the browser plug-in, you should install the special font Garamond Latin so that Latin macrons and other special characters display correctly. This is not strictly necessary, but if you do not install this font macrons will display as dierisies and other diacritical marks may also be effected. The font is available for download at the address below. If you are on a secure local network, your network administrator may need to authorize the installation.
